Contemporary

This piece came about as a 2D version of my relief piece Life Form I influenced by a long time interest in M.C. Eschers work with tessallating shapes and metamorphosis.The theme it illustrates is what I believe is a oneness we share with every living thing including the planet, the elements etc - hence "You are the Ocean, I am the Sky, We are One" Looking deeper into the painting you will see I have made no clear delineation between the sky and sea and in fact even the fish become the sea in parts and the koru motif is repeated throughout connecting the air, sea, birds fish and sea floor where I couldn't help but suggest a fishy evolution/metamorphosis at the bottom.
